Still Life with Lamp
I did this painting while in grad school -> way back when. I originally had my grandmothers shopping cart (upside down) on the left side. One day several years later, when visiting my parents, I took it off the wall and painted out the cart. I love to open space on the left side (where the cart used to be.)
The lamp, the red and brown item on the left, was my dads - I loved the form of it as a little kid. The table is the same on as in Still Life with Press. The multicolored cloth was Sherri's bed spread - as well as her tea cup. This painting is a metaphor for defining ones Self through social groups: what influences do you want, ultimately, on your plate?
