For the Death of Anna
My Dad's sister died on Ellis Island. We went looking for her grave one day in an empty lot in Newark. Someone told us that her grave was marked with a sculpture of an angel - but we never found it. So, this painting is for the death of Anna - to remember the life that we never knew. Depicted is my grandmother burying her, while Anna (as a ghost of a her never to be grownup self) looks on - hovering over her grave. My grandfather is running through the field, screaming. I really need to get better photographs of these paintings.
