The Farmers Wife (for Maria)

A narrative of a farmer who sells his farms to real estate developers. The changing and extinction of the American workforce/ identity.

  • When I was thinking about this painting, my parents were looking to buy a house in Eastern Penna. The dramatic change in that landscape affected me deeply.
  • I donated this painting to Take Home a Nude. It was bought by a Lawyer who thought the painting was nice and would look great in their newborns room. His wife is changing the baby one day and notices the hanged "wife" in the painting - she calls her husband in hysteria. Turns out, that little moment makes the painting for them: they thought that it was "nice" but once they noticed the fatal moment, the painting was perfect.
  • This was painted on site, here. In the google map, you can see the roof of this abandoned house to the immediate right.
  • Yes, this painting is named after Maria Farmer

If you are the owner, please contact me. I only have a very bad photo of this painting...
